Database Browser
The Unsanityª Echo database browser is the primary control center for songs in the application.
Open the Database Window by choosing Database Browser from the Database Menu.
Overview:
Description of the buttons (in order from left to right, top to bottom):
Edit Info: Shows and allows editing of the info for the song currently hilited. Any changes made are only stored in the database for now.
Add to Playlist: Adds all selected items to the playlist sans folders. However, it does add the songs inside the inside the folders and subfolders.
Trash: Hiliting any song and clicking this button will remove the selected item from the database and playlist.
New Folder: Makes a new folder. The color determines the folder should be hilited in the database. (See Below)
Find File: Searches for a song matching the specified criteria.
Sorting: Clicking any Title such as title, kind, or author will cause Unsanityª Echo to sort the playlist alphabetically from 0-z based on the given criteria and will auto-sort any new items. Folders are always on top. To stop a specific sort method, click on the header (title, kind, artist) again so it does not appear as dark gray.
Other things:
Option Key: Holding the option key and dragging the mouse over a song with display how many times it has played and it's total time.
Adding songs to the database:
Note: Any file added to the playlist automatically gets added to the database.
1. Double-click an audio file in the Finder and Unsanity™ Echo will automatically begin to play it if the file has been opened by Unsanityª Echo before.
2. To add a song, or number of songs to the Unsanityª Echo database, select the songs in the Finder and drag them to the Unsanityª Echo database browser window. Unsanityª Echo will automatically scan through all the dragged items and add files it can play to the database browser. You can drag folders and disks on the window as well - Unsanityª Echo will automatically add that folder as a hierarchical database item.
3. Dragging files to the Main Player window will cause Unsanityª Echo to automatically play the first one added and add all of them to the database.
Note: Anything and everything played in Unsanityª Echo gets added to the database.
Removing songs from the database:
To remove an item from the database, select the item(s) and press delete or click the little trash can icon. Removing an item from the database will remove it from the playlist.
Loading a playlist:
To load a non-Echo playlist, simply drag it from the Finder to the Unsanityª Echo database window. The following playlist formats are supported out of the box: -MALT 2.x Playlists - Shoutcast .PLS Playlists - Icecast/MP3.com -.M3U Playlists-AMP Radio Playlists. Formats can be extended with the use of PIMPs (Playlist Importers) added to the PIMP folder in the Plugins folder.
